Z. Scouras is professor of Genetics at the University of Thessaloniki (AUTh). B.Sc. in Biology (University of Thessaloniki, 1977), Ph.D. in Genetics (University of Thessaloniki, 1977). He worked as postdoc, at the Max-Planck-Institute für Biochemie, München, and Tübingen, Germany. Visitor Professor at Umea University, Sweden. His scientific work is centered on Genetics, Molecular Biology and Molecular Evolution, on several organisms (nematodes, Drosophila, mussels, vertebrates). His is interested on Biotechnology and Bioethics.

     He is currently the Chairman of the Hellenic Society of Biologists. He is member of several scientific societies (Molecular Evolution - Genetics - Biotechnology). He is teaching at AUTh several courses related to Molecular Genetics and Evolution at the Department of Biology.
