Demetra Sphendoni-Mentzou

Philosophy Department, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece

    Demetra Sphendoni-Mentzou is Professor of Philosophy of Science in the Department of Philosophy at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She has taught at York University in Toronto, has been a Visiting Research Scholar of the British Council at Oxford University and a Fulbright Senior Visiting Scholar at Harvard University.

    She was one of the ten Greek nominees of the year 1987 for the award “Woman of Europe”. Her articles on Philosophy of Science, on C. S. Peirce's philosophy of Pragmatism, and on Aristotle have appeared in Greek and international scientific Journals and collected volumes. She is the editor of the two volumes of Aristotle and Contemporary Science (New York: Peter Lang, 2000-2001). Her book on Aristotle and Contemporary Physics (in Greek) is expected to appear soon.
